What is the difference between running my card as debit or credit?

I just have a regular checking account, so what is the difference between running it as debit or credit? Is there one? Will it help my credit score if I run it as credit?|||Tara

No difference to you, but for the merchant a very BIG difference. The merchant may pay $.25 for each debit card transaction, but could pay 3% or more for the same charge being done as a credit card.

So on a $100 item a $.25 as a debit or $3 as a Credit card fee!

Soccerref|||If you select debit, you enter your PIN. If you select credit, you sign the receipt. Your BANK treats both EXACTLY the same. This account DOES NOT exist on your credit report unless you overdraw the account and fail to bring the balance positive.|||Absolutely nothing, this is for the retailers convenience not yours. the money is taken from your account immediately no matter. No it does not help your credit
